Planning Training Core – 2 Day Course

Better plans, Fewer Surprises, Less Firefighting!

‘An Introduction to the Project Planning Process’ is a 2-day course.

It provides the delegate with guidelines for improving their project planning and management techniques. It is targeted at anybody who has responsibility for managing or planning a project or portion of a project, regardless of the business line. Typically, this covers staff in Project Management and Programme Support. There are no pre-requisites for attendance, other than some knowledge of existing company project management processes.

The training takes the delegate through the whole process of planning and managing a project, from project start-up to updating and reporting, maintaining alignment with other corporate processes along the way.

The course has been designed and put together by Terry Beegan and takes a practical approach to the subject. It goes beyond the standard textbook approach by not just teaching delegates what to do and how to do it, but, more importantly, why it should be done.

The course is divided into a total of 11 units. These are shown on the following page. The course follows the principals of the Association of Project Managers Body of Knowledge and is broadly in line with the PRINCE2 methodology.
